Specialized Mountain Bike- Specialized
Mountain Bikes For Serious Bikers?
So you are interested in a
Specialized Mountain Bike, but want to know more about them
before shelling out that kind of cash? Mr. Peach understands.
Just because they are known as specialized mountain bikes,
doesn't necessarily mean they are special! So let's take a look
at these bikes and see what you are in for.
Specialized
Mountain Bikes are made by Specialized Bicycle Components.
Founded in 1974 by Mike Sinyard, a specialized mountain
bike is supposed to "give everyone the best ride of their
life" according to the mission statement. Mike's company
introduced the world to the first mass-produced mountain
bike in history when it revealed the Stump Jumper in 1981.
This bike went for around $750. In '83, Specialized takes
things a step further and creates the first pro mountain
bike team. Clearly, the Specialized mountain bike has been
at the forefront of mountain bike riding from the
start.
Today, Specialized mountain bikes come in several different
lines from the company including Works, Epic, FSR, ENduro,
Demo, BigHit, RockHopper, Hardrock and the Stumpjumper. Each
line is dedicated to a particular feel and look for every
mountain biker, so before making a clear decision on which
Specialized mountain bike is right for you, take the time to
look into these different lines. Each line offers something
different for your own personal needs and makes it easier for
you to make the call on which one is specialized for
you!
Some things to consider when
looking over a Specialized mountain bike are gear transitions,
geometry, seating, manuverability, speed, etc. When possible,
its best to try out the trailbike before making a purchase.
Take the time to inspect it, sit on it, change gears and so
forth. Don't rush into a purchase before at least inspecting
it.
